Our campsite is located on a sheltered quiet place by the sea, on the beach itself. It is one of the nicest beaches by the Mediteranean sea: a cove named “La Garrofa”, just 4 Km far from Almería city.
Its location makes the campsite a perfect place to enjoy the natural areas of Almería province: Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park , Tabernas Desert, Sierra Nevada. Also the charming white villages are just a few miles away. Moreover indeed the city of Almería, just a 5 minutes drive, will welcome you with its magnificent andalusi heritage: Alcazaba and the Arab cisterns.
The campsite, shaded by a centenarian eucalyptus grove, is divided into plots. All of them are connected to electricity supply (6 amp-10amp). We offer three blocks of modern and restructured sanitary facilities (washbasin, toilets, sinks and showers) with permanent cleaning and free hot water.
Camping La Garrofa is an emblematic tourism camp in this country, given that it dates from the year 1957, today, the oldest camping in Spain.
Since the sixties we have received thousands of tourists of all nationalities, some of them, still continue to yearn for this place and every year they spend long periods with us.
The campsite itself is full of history. A few meters from the site we find the Puente Romano de la Garrofa and the Roman Road which can be reached by taking a beautiful walk. On the eastern slope of the Camping we find Torre Garía de la Garrofa, a typical defensive construction of the Mediterranean, from which You can enjoy beautiful views of the coast, and the Alcazaba Almeriense just 4 km from the campsite.
